Performed by: Jason Raize [Orig]
Jason Raize (born 20th July 1975 – 3rd February 2004) was an American actor, singer and former Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme. He was best known for his roles as the adult Simba in the Broadway stage musical version of The Lion King and Denahi in the animated Disney film Brother Bear. Sadly on February 7th 2004 at 11.15am, Raize's body was found hanged in a shed on the farm property. A missing person's report had been filed on February 3rd, also believed to be the date of death. Raize's death was ruled a suicide.
"Endless Night" is a musical number from the 1997 Lion King stage musical.
The song is sung when Simba is at his lowest, having a confidence crisis over how he had let his father Mufasa down, and trying to work out how he fits into the world. He remembers Mufasa's promise to always be there for him.
TCDailyPlanet wrote:- “Endless Night was also in my top performances. Sung by Simba...this performance brought tears to my eyes. It was done simply and beautifully, capturing a lovely self-reflection from a son without a father".
The Sun Chronicle:- A beautiful song where Simba laments the loss of his father, which is emotionally charged and powerful, and added "I don't think anyone will ever sing that song the way the late Jason Raize did (he was the original Simba on Broadway and it is his voice on the original Broadway cast album) due to his "vocal depth and delivery”.
